Howard Tai (Chi Hwa) Oversees the Boca Raton restaurant in the upscale Boca Center.
Armed with a degree in engineering, Howard Tai moved from
Taiwan to Boston in 1967 where he practiced before returning
to the restaurant business in New York in 1970. His
ability to accurately interpret Uncle Tai's vision earned
him operational authority over all Uncle Tai's locations in
1979
Howard Tai, a personable perfectionist, coordinates the
activities of all restaurants, overseeing the food preparation and service. Howard maintains the family
philosophy on judging a good Oriental restaurant...
"a meat dish should
be prepared with at least 70% meat and 30% vegetable to be considered first-class"
Howard ensures that the quality and integrity of the food, as well as the presentation, will never be compromised. "We serve Oriental food of the highest quality and include many unique offerings. To those discerning people who know and recognize fine cuisine,
we are a favorite choice for dining out."
Yi Ling Gung, Executive Chef, learned the art of
Hunan cuisine in Hong Kong studying under the mentorship of
Uncle
Tai and other chefs who specialize in Chinese food. Yi
Ling first came to the United States in 1984 and helped run
the the Dallas Uncle Tai's before coming to Boca Raton.
He has been with Uncle Tai's restaurant for over 25 years
and continues to play a key role in the company's mission to
provide unique and interesting Hunan style food, with a
tireless pursuit of quality; both with the ingredients,
preparation as well as presentation.
James Tai, Executive Chef, also studied Chinese and
Hunan style cuisine under Uncle Tai living in Taiwan with
the
aspiration of becoming one of the leading chefs of oriental
style cooking in the United States. He came the New
York in 1969 where he quickly earned a reputation as an
innovator and forward thinker within the culinary community.
In 1972 he went to Houston for 15 years and then opened the Boca Raton
restaurant in 1987. He is currently recognized
internationally as one of the finest Oriental style chefs in
the industry and has helped bring many awards and
recognitions to Uncle Tai's.
Peter Chan, General Manager, is responsible for the
strategic planning, staffing and operations for the
"front-of-house"
business. A high school teacher in his early days,
Peter Chan carries two Masters degrees in Education and
History. He came to the United States from Hong Kong
in the early 1970s. In 1980, he gained grass roots
experience at Uncle Tai's before being appointed as General
Manager in the Boca Raton Restaurant in 1987. With 25 years
of experience with the same company, he has helped bring a
level of operational integrity rarely seen in any
organization. His dedication has contributed greatly to the
restaurant's popularity.
Bing Hwa Tai, Assistant General Manager, helps run
the operations of the business and takes
ownership
of the business model at the tactical level. She came
from Taiwan in the early 1970s and then joined the company
in Houston in 1979. She delivered exceptional customer
service and was rewarded with the Assistant Manager position
in Boca Raton in 1989. Like Peter Chan, she is the
consummate professional who goes out of her way to satisfy
the needs of guests. She believes customer loyalty can
not be earned with quality food and service alone...they
must be delivered with warmth and friendliness to provide a
truly special dining experience.
